The Red   Food Market

The project brief was to look at the human side of the urban landscape of Shoreditch. Who inhabits those urbans spaces? How do they inhabit them? All of these human structures and objects are there for a reason, as they create a cultural landscape in which identity, sense of place and memories coexist.

In order to investigate this urban landscape, I led a design process that worked to enhance people's experience of the physical environment.

We were given The Red Street Food Market in Shoreditch to use as our area to develop a spatial intervention; this linked our investigations of the cultural landscape of Shoreditch together.

I decided to look at how light and sound interacted with the Shoreditch landscape, and how I might be able to create a spatial intervention in the food market that interacted with them.
